Township of Langley

As of September 2026, properties that receive Township municipal garbage collection are eligible for the Township’s Large Item Pick Up program. Eligible properties may schedule up to 4 large items per calendar year.

• Up to 4 large items per year
• Furniture and many large appliances are accepted
• Mattresses and box springs must be bagged or sealed in plastic
• A maximum of 2 of the 4 annual items may be mattresses and/or box springs
• Home-renovation materials, TVs, tires, propane tanks, hazardous waste and lumber are among the items the Township lists as not accepted

Langley City

Langley City runs a separate program. Its published information says detached single-family homes can schedule up to 4 large items per year.

• Furniture and large household goods are accepted
• Mattresses are listed as banned items
• Carpets, lumber, demolition or renovation materials, hazardous waste, propane tanks and tires are also listed as banned

When Private Rubbish Removal Makes Sense

A private pickup can be useful when your property is not eligible for the municipal program, the item is excluded, you have more than the annual limit, or you are clearing a larger mixed load rather than four individual bulky items.

The Township itself lists hiring a private waste hauler as one option for disposing of larger items when municipal collection is not the right fit.
